Summary
On 29 September 2008 Bradford & Bingley was taken into public ownership by HM Treasury. The Bank’s UK and Isle of Man retail deposit businesses were sold to Abbey National plc, part of Santander Group. Currently, Bradford & Bingley is a mortgage servicing bank tasked with managing its outstanding mortgage portfolio and is permanently closed to new mortgage business.
