Summary
The British Columbia Ferry Corporation was established as a Crown corporation on June 30, 1976. On April 2, 2003, the corporation was converted into an independent regulated company and renamed British Columbia Ferry Services Inc. Through a network of 25 routes, the company serves Vancouver Island, the Gulf Islands, the Haida Gwaii, and the mainland using a fleet of 35 vessels. It also administers ferry service delivery on eight other routes serviced by independent contractors.
