DBRS Releases Study on Residential Mortgages and Securitization in Canada

DBRS has today released “Residential Mortgages and Securitization in Canada: Overview of the Mortgage Market,” the first part of a three-part study on the residential real estate market in Canada.

The report includes a detailed study of the Canadian residential property market over the past 10 years, with an in-depth analysis of four major urban centres. It goes on to explore the development and current state of the residential mortgage market and the options available to borrowers. In subsequent studies, DBRS will discuss the development and performance of residential mortgage securitization in Canada, along with its approach to analyzing the securitization of residential mortgages, appropriate enhancement requirements and structural considerations.
