DBRS Publishes Its National Scale Credit Ratings and Mapping Table for United Mexican States
ABCP, Auto, RMBSDBRS has today published the national scale credit ratings (the National Scale), which DBRS uses in a country to rate domestic issuances against its industry peer group in the same country to provide increased ratings utility for domestic investors.
The National Scale, which contains both a long-term and short-term scale, is applied to credit ratings in certain local capital markets to provide an opinion of creditworthiness or overall capacity to meet specific financial obligations relative to other issuers and issues in a given country or region. The credit ratings assigned according to the National Scale provide a rank ordering of credit risk within the country and are not comparable between countries.
DBRS has also published guidelines for assigning National Scale credit ratings through a mapping document, which includes a mapping table for assigning credit ratings in Mexico using global scale ratings in cases where a national scale methodology is not available.
