DBRS Discontinues BBB Rating on Novo Banco S.A. Soft Bullet Covered Bonds

Covered Bonds
January 27, 2017

DBRS Ratings Limited (DBRS) has today discontinued the BBB rating on the Obrigações Hipotecárias (OH, the Portuguese legislative covered bonds) issued under the Novo Banco S.A. (Novo Banco, or the Issuer) Soft Bullet Covered Bond Programme (SB OH or the Programme).

The rating action reflects the payment in full of Series 6, being the last series outstanding under the Programme, on 26 January 2017.

Series 6 was a EUR 40 million fixed-rate bond with a coupon of 4.6%, and it was placed with investors.

Notes:
All figures are in euros unless otherwise noted.

The principal methodology applicable to the rating is: “Rating European Covered Bonds.” This can be found at http://www.dbrs.com/about/methodologies.

In DBRS’s opinion, a discontinued-repaid rating action does not warrant the application of the entire principal methodology, as the bond has been repaid in full.

Other methodologies referenced in this transaction are listed at the end of this press release. These may be found on www.dbrs.com at: http://www.dbrs.com/about/methodologies.

The sources of information used for this rating include historical default performance data and CP loan-by-loan data tables provided by Novo Banco, S.A. that allowed DBRS to further assess the portfolio.

DBRS does not rely upon third-party due diligence in order to conduct its analysis.

At the time of the initial rating, DBRS was not supplied with third-party assessments. However, this did not impact the rating analysis.

DBRS considers the information available to it for the purposes of providing this rating to be of satisfactory quality.

DBRS does not audit or independently verify the data or the information it receives in connection with the rating process.

The last rating action on this transaction took place on 5 December 2016, when DBRS confirmed the ratings on the OH at BBB following completion of the annual review.

Information regarding DBRS ratings, including definitions, policies and methodologies, is available on www.dbrs.com.

As this is a discontinued – repaid rating action, sensitivity analysis is not applicable.
