DBRS Publishes Commentary on “DBRS: DFAST / CCAR 2019 – What to Expect”
Banking OrganizationsDBRS, Inc. (DBRS) published a commentary highlighting expectations for DFAST / CCAR in 2019. The Federal Reserve (Fed) will publish the results from the Dodd-Frank Act Stress Tests (DFAST) on Friday, June 21, and the results from the Comprehensive Capital Analysis and Review (CCAR) on Thursday, June 27.
Key Highlights include:
• DBRS does not expect any quantitative objections in this year’s exercise and expects similar to modestly higher capital return plans.
• Regulatory relief has reduced the number of banks in this year’s exercise to 18 banks, down from 35 banks in 2018.
• Recent results continue to demonstrate the strength of U.S. bank balance sheets.
“DBRS generally expects more of the same results from U.S. banks in the Fed’s annual DFAST and CCAR exercise, although the qualitative assessment remains a wild card for European bank IHCs” said Michael McTamney, Vice President.
