DBRS Morningstar Releases Commentary on ESG Factors in the Construction and Property Development Industry

DBRS Morningstar released a commentary titled “ESG Factors in the Construction and Property Development Industry.” This commentary addresses the environmental, social, and governance (ESG) risk factors identified in “DBRS Morningstar Criteria: Approach to Environmental, Social, and Governance Risk Factors in Credit Ratings” that could affect ratings on companies in the construction and property development industry. Of the 17 ESG risk factors identified, there are nine relevant factors (two environmental, four social, and three governance) that can be applied to corporate issuers when using the DBRS Morningstar methodology “Rating Companies in the Construction and Property Development Industry.” In this commentary, we address the nine relevant risk factors and provide examples of how they could affect credit ratings for issuers in this industry.
