DBRS Morningstar Discontinues Ratings on Kanaal CMBS Finance 2019 DAC
CMBSDBRS Ratings GmbH (DBRS Morningstar) discontinued its ratings on all classes of commercial mortgage-backed securities (CMBS) notes issued by Kanaal CMBS Finance 2019 DAC as the notes were fully redeemed on 22 August 2023. This concludes DBRS Morningstar’s surveillance of this transaction.
Prior to their repayment, the ratings and the outstanding principal balance on the notes were as follows:
-- Class A notes rated at AAA (sf); EUR 66,535,000
-- Class B notes rated at AA (low) (sf); EUR 15,119,718
-- Class C notes rated at A (low) (sf); EUR 18,621,560
-- Class D notes rated at BBB (low) (sf); EUR 8,664,793
DBRS Morningstar’s credit ratings on Classes A, B, C, and D of the CMBS floating-rate notes issued by Kanaal CMBS Finance 2019 DAC address the credit risk associated with the identified financial obligations in accordance with the relevant transaction documents.
DBRS Morningstar’s credit rating does not address nonpayment risk associated with contractual payment obligations contemplated in the applicable transaction document(s) that are not financial obligations. For example, pro rata default interest, Euribor excess amount, and prepayment fees.
DBRS Morningstar’s long-term credit ratings provide opinions on risk of default. DBRS Morningstar considers risk of default to be the risk that an issuer will fail to satisfy the financial obligations in accordance with the terms under which a long-term obligation has been issued. The DBRS Morningstar short-term debt rating scale provides an opinion on the risk that an issuer will not meet its short-term financial obligations in a timely manner.

A review of the transaction legal documents was not conducted as the legal documents have remained unchanged since the most recent credit rating action.
In DBRS Morningstar's opinion, a discontinued-repaid credit rating action does not warrant the application of the entire principal methodology, as the bond has been repaid in full.
