Summary
Originally established in 1956 as the Alberta Municipal Financing Corporation, the Corporation was renamed the Alberta Capital Finance Authority (ACFA) in 2003 and provides financing for capital projects to municipalities, school boards and other local entities. Under the Local Authorities Capital Finance Act, all property, rights, obligations, liabilities, powers, and duties of ACFA became those of the Province of Alberta on October 31, 2020. As a result, DBRS Morningstar has applied the Province of Alberta's Long-Term Debt rating to all outstanding debt directly issued by ACFA. Please see Province of Alberta for more information.
